The Bagels &... family

Steve started working in his father’s Bialy Bakery at the age of nine.  “I couldn’t reach the bench, so I stood on a milk crate.” Steve said.  Eventually by the age of thirteen he was doing the work of a Union man.

He opened his first Bialy Bakery in 1963 in Queens, New York.

In 1968 he went into the Bagel business opening a store in Massapequa, Long Island, where he manufactured both bagels and bialys.

In 1972 he opened another store in Williston Park, Long Island and gave the store to his brother-in-law.

In 1973 he opened a store in East Setauket, Long Island.

1980 opened store in Huntington Station, Long Island.

In 1991 he moved to Florida to restructure his life (not retire).  He opened his first Bagels &… on Boynton Beach Blvd. in 1994 and then his Hypoluxo store in 1998.

Steve’s grandfather was a Bialy Baker in the 1930’s followed by Steve’s father and then by his brothers and himself.  Now this long history of tradition and expertise is being continued with Steve’s own children.
